EUNICE~Our hearts are filled with sorrow as we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Ruth Sheffield Miller on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles at the age of 86.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 24, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Msgr. Robert Romero, Celebrant.
Ruth, a resident of Lake Charles formerly of Hammond, enjoyed square dancing and devoted her life to nursing. She was a 1949 Graduate of Silsbee High School, as well as a graduate of Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, Lamar College, and of St. Francis Joliet Illinois.
She retired as a RN after working for forty five years. She was also a Director and an Administrator of various areas of surgical departments.
Her greatest passion and love was her family especially her loving husband of over sixty four years, Dr. Luke Miller of Eunice; her two wonderful children, Alida L. Miller and John David Miller and wife, Marcia, all of Hammond; her brother, William Henry Sheffield and wife, Nelda Faye of Spurger, TX and their children, Keith and John Sheffield; and one granddaughter, Andi Rochelle Miller Abbott; as well as extended family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Edna Jones Sheffield.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, September 24th from 11:00 am until time of services.
