Sean Brunson Reed, 54, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on February 11, 2022, after a brief illness.
In Eunice, Louisiana, Sean was born to John Irving Reed and Alma Brunson Reed in 1967.
He attended high school at St. Edmund Catholic School, where he graduated and served as student council president in 1985. He attended the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, where he graduated as a second lieutenant with a degree in International Relations in 1989. At The Citadel, Sean was on the Dean’s List and served as India Company Commander. He served in the U.S. Army for six years, including Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Sean is survived and deeply missed by his five children Ian Brunson Reed of Huntsville, Alabama; Phala Grace Reed of Atlanta; Bryan James Patton and wife Taylor Waters of Tupelo, Mississippi; Kelsey Joan Stenberg and husband, Jacob Stenberg of Hunstville, Alabama; Eryn Elizabeth Patton and husband, Donnie Decker of New York City; his long-time friend and former spouse, Phala Lea Patton-Reed of Huntsville, Alabama; his mother, Alma Brunson Reed of Eunice; one brother, Van Reed of Eunice; Valerie Reed Jumonville and husband Joe of Milton; Camille Reed of Eunice.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Reed, in 2020.
Sean was a music lover, mainly what he considered “the good stuff,” jazz, punk rock, metal, pop, and more.
He had a passion for Cajun and Creole food. He was an ardent reader whose extensive library led him to translate his dense knowledge of history, poetry, religion, science, sci-fi, and fantasy, into approachable storytelling for friends and family.
The family held a private memorial in Huntsville, Alabama and he will be buried in St. Louis Cemetery in Eunice alongside his father.
