Shirley Foret Hebert, 85, of Beaumont, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, at Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital. She was born on March 19, 1935, to Mary Brignac Foret and Wade H. Foret, in Eunice, Louisiana.
Shirley was a loving wife of 60 years, mother, and grandmother who always went above and beyond to take care of her family. She loved to visit, laugh and have fun with family and friends. She liked to entertain and was an excellent cook. Shirley always decorated for the holidays, birthdays, and made every gathering special with delicious food and heartfelt love. She loved giving to others. Shirley also enjoyed painting and creating flower arrangements.
She was a member of the Mary Howell Garden Club of Beaumont, and the Craft Club, a ladies social group. Also, she and her husband, Cal, were members of the 50s Club, a group of couples who have been married for 50 years or longer.
Shirley and Cal loved the beach. They were involved in neighborhood activities, such as the Mardi Gras court. The beach house was a place for family to gather and many happy, lasting memories were made there.
Shirley’s legacy will be how she taught her children and grandchildren to be strong in their faith, live with gratitude and celebrate life. She was a very caring soul who always put family first.
In their later years, Shirley and Cal enjoyed sitting on their back deck feeding the squirrels and the birds and talking about life.
Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Hebert Russo and her husband, Louis, of Clear Lake, Texas; Michelle Hebert of The Woodlands, Texas; and Lynette Hebert Brown of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Russo, Michael Russo and his wife, Kendall, Faith Brown, and Kaylin Brown; sister, Theresa Suire and her husband, Allen, of Beaumont; and brother, Benjamin Foret of Eunice, Louisiana.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Cal Hebert.
A gathering of Mrs. Hebert’s family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until noon, with a Rosary recited at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. Her entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. Please observe social distancing guidelines.
