EUNICE - Our hearts are filled with sorrow as our family announces the passing of our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend, Warren A. Fontenot on January 15, 2019 at the Carpenter House in Lafayette at the age of 80.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Clement officiating.
Warren was a true Louisiana sportsman who loved hunting, especially dove and duck, and fishing, especially sac-a-lait. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and watching it grow.
Warren was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching LSU, the Saints, and his grandsons play sports. As any true Louisianan, he knew how to cook. His daughter’s favorites were catfish courtbillion and shrimp and crab stew.
Warren will be truly missed by everyone, especially his wife of 59 years, Alverta “Chick” Fontenot of Eunice; daughters, Nanette Fontenot Frey and Lisa Leger and husband, Brendon, all of Eunice; five grandchildren, Katheryn Vincent and husband, Keith, Annie Frey, Kelly Leger and wife, Natalie, Hunter Leger and wife, Katherine, all of Eunice, Beau Leger and wife, Tobi of Vidrine; eleven great grandchildren, Michael, John, Sophie, Ross, Clara, Roan, Audrey, Grady, Weston, Landry, and Etley; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Johns and Lily Fusilier Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, January 17th from 7:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm Thursday.
