MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou for Weston John Deshotel., 94, who passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Beaumont, Texas.
Deacon Chuck Ortego will preside over the funeral services. Entombment will take place in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.
Weston John Deshotel was born in Eunice, Louisiana to Oneal and Elia Deshotel on September 7, 1927. Weston courageously served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force, having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired with a combined 22+ years of service to his country. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and parishioner at Saint Ann‘s Catholic Church.
Weston was known as a prankster and loved to make everyone laugh and smile. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and spending time with his best friend Bodie (Dr. Manuel). He worked for the Mamou post office as a letter carrier, retiring from the Postal Service after 20+ years of service. After retirement, Weston was an official member of the Mamou do-nothing club.
Weston was preceded in death by his loving wife Pearl Deshotel, his parents, Oneal and Elia Deshotel, and his sisters, Helen Coyle and Mercedes Taylor. He is survived by his niece and nephew, Pris and Bob LeJeune, and many other nieces and nephews. Also, Red Fontenot, who was like a son to him.
Pallbearers are Bobby Beaver, Jeffrey Beaver, Jr., Wilson Hawa, John Beaver, Joseph Beaver, Benjamin Beaver, and Travis Landreneau. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob LeJeune, Peter Augustine and Red Fontenot.
The family requests that a visitation be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 beginning at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
