William "Billy" Gil

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of William “Billy” Gil, Jr. announces his passing on Friday, August 9, 2019. He was 78 years old. He was the husband of Linda Larson Gil, and together they shared fifty years of marriage. He was a retired educator of St. Landry Parish, where he served as a school teacher for 10 years, assistant principal at Central Middle School in Eunice for 12 years and Principal of Eunice Elementary School for 8 years. William also served in the Army National Guard, was a member of the Eunice Jaycee’s, a past member of the Lion’s Club and served as a St. Landry Parish Councilman for 8 years. He enjoyed many years of coaching Little League Baseball when his boys were younger. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with family, as well as his life-long friends.
William was survived by his wife, Linda Larson Gil; his three sons, William Paul Gil III and wife, Natisha, Edward Gil and wife, Kelly, and Robert Gil and wife Margaret, brother, Keith Gil, and sister, Paula Stelly. He loved his three grandchildren; Hayden, Olivia and Vivian Gil. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beulah Gil and William Gil, Sr.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice, La., on Tuesday, August 13, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 14 from 8:00AM, until time of service. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00AM on August 14, 2019 at St. Thomas More in Eunice, Louisiana. Burial will follow at St. Thomas More Cemetery.
