EUNICE~It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Wilma Jean Bourque announces her passing on Monday, May 18, 2020 in the comfort of her home with loving family by her side. She was 88. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Sensat officiating.
Clarence and Wilma Bourque established Bourque Signs in 1958. Wilma had a passion for working and she did that for 62 years.
She was known for her cooking and baking pies and she loved to sew and make jewelry for the family. Wilma lived her life loving her children and grandchildren unconditionally and her happiest days were spent with family.
It’s hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember and she was loved so deeply by her five children, Brian Bourque and wife, Brenda of Lafayette, Sterling Bourque and wife, Barbara of Eunice, Sue Wallace and husband, Paul of Iota, Fay Gotreaux and husband, Dennis of Eunice and Connie Smith and husband, Kris of New Iberia; fifteen grandchildren, Brandon Bourque, Bridgette Prudhomme, Brooklynn Woods, Derek Bourque, Craig Bourque, Seth Bourque, Mitchell Bourque, Wesley Bourque, David Thibodeau, Thomas Thibodeau, Dustin Bourque, Coby Wallace, Jordon Wallace, Ryan “Bubba” Gotreaux, Brett “Duke” Gotreaux, Cody LaFleur and Christopher Smith; thirty one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren as well as extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bourque; son, Robert Bourque; mother, Theolise LeJeune and a sister, Berna Comeaux.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
