BASILE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Zelda Ann Deshotel announces her passing on Friday, April 12, 2019 in her home at the age of 57. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Monday, April 15, 2019 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Bishop Douglas Deshotel Celebrant.
Zelda was a retired juvenile officer for various agencies. She loved children, her family and enjoyed sharing her life with them as well as her childhood friend, Renetta Kibodeaux. Her passing was a sudden and unexpected loss for her family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved especially her siblings, Hedrick Paul Deshotel, SR of Basile, Haidee Marie D. Hannon of Eunice, Bishop John Douglas Deshotel of Lafayette, Gregory Michael Deshotel and wife, Belinda of Eunice, James Jude Deshotel and wife, Priscilla of Youngsville and Mark Anthony Deshotel of Basile; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Luna Manuel Deshotel; a brother, Duncan Joseph Deshotel; sister-in-law, Nancy Deshotel and brother-in-law, Keith Hannon,
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile on Sunday, April 14th from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Monday, April 15th from 8:00 am until time of services. Bishop Douglas Deshotel will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
