The 12th annual Eunice Community Health Center’s biggest fundraiser, the Taster’s Choice, was held Wednesday evening inside the Mumphrey Center at LSUE.
Hundreds of people attended and got to enjoy tasting different foods, from different categories. Some of the samplings were Shrimp Atchafalaya, Mardi Gras cheese King Cake, strawberry cream cheese iced Mardi Gras cake bread pudding, jambalaya, Mardi Gras Crack Candy, duck gumbo, Cajun Tators, sauce piquante’, pork and sausage sauce piquante’, crawfish etouffee, potato soup, chicken and sausage sauce piquante’, and much more. The cooking categories included Professional and Amateur divisions with dishes entered in as general entree, seafood, wild game and desserts. People were able to vote on their favorite food from designated categories, and winners were announced later in the evening. The cooking event was held from 6 to 9 p.m.
Geno Delafose & the French Rockin Boogie provided entertainment. A live and silent auction was also held during the evening.
Tickets for the event were $30 per person in advance and were also available at the door for $40 per person. There were 24 cooking teams for the event.
There were also the annual sponsors, platinum, gold, green, purple and In Kind that contribute to the event each year. These sponsors had large reserved tables for their company’s employees and guests.
There was a live auction with Dale Sittig as the official auctioneer.
All proceeds from the cooking event will go to the Eunice Community Health Center.
The health center is vital to the Eunice community as it serves and provides under insured and no insured prescriptions. The clinic is located at 450 Moosa Blvd. Suite E in Eunice.
