Eunice Cajun Prairie tour

About 20 people toured the Eunice Prairie on Saturday morning as part of the Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society’s summer meeting.
The group edged its way around the prairie’s perimeter led by Steve Nevitt, a former Society president.
Recent rains had sparked a blooming of flowers attended by butterflies on the 10-acre-site at Martin Luther King Drive and East Magnolia.
Colby LeJeune, president of the Society, said before settlers and the railroad, Eunice and much of southwest Louisiana looked like that Eunice Prairie restoration site.
