The first annual Church Jambalaya Cook-Off was held Saturday on the grounds and pavilion at the Northwest Community Center. The Church Cook-off is a non-profit organization that was created to bring churches and surrounding communities together for a fun-filled day for everyone of all ages.
There were four churches participating, and they included Our Savior’s Church in Eunice, First Baptist Church of Eunice, North Eunice Baptist Church and First Baptist of Basile. Others participating in the cook off were RJM Construction and Concrete of Carencro, St. Landry Parish Fire District 6, and the Lunch Box.
There were prizes for winners, and a cash prize for the first place winner. Trophies were awarded for Cooking and Best Booth Decoration and a trophy for People’s Choice Award.
There were fun jumps for kids on the grounds and a Bungee Manja. Also under the pavilion were a few booths of crafts.
