Seventh annual Parade of Paws

The seventh annual Parade of Paws parade was held Saturday at 3 p.m. on downtown South 2nd.
Organizer and event planner Jerica Guillory held registration in front of Beaucoup on S. 2nd for the event before the parade began. There were over 35 entries.
All canines were dressed in Mardi Gras attire and costumes. Three judges were on hand before the parade began to judge for winners.
Winning first place was Finley, a Great Dane, owners are Tina and Gary Conner. Second place went to Josie, an 8-weeks-old Australian Shepherd breed, owners are Clay and Emily Francois; and third place was awarded to Roxie, a one and half year old Poodle, with her owner Jessica LaFleur.
Winners of the ribbons were Most Creative Remi, a 4-year-old Maltese breed, with owner Leslie Fontenot; Howie, a 7-year-old male Beagle, with owners Josie and Mose Highsmith won Mayor’s Selection and Jessica Doucet’s 10-year-old German Shepherd Leela won the Cajun Classic.
