Eunice and Notre Dame continued their summer baseball schedule with the Pioneers earning a 13-7 win over the Bobcats.
The Pios grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bobcats answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 3-3.
Jahiem Mitchell led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and Braiden Rider followed with a single of his own.
Grant Fontenot drove in Mitchell with a sacrifice fly, advancing Rider to third base.
Dylan Darbonne’s sacrifice fly drove in Fontenot to tie the game at 3-3.
The Pioneers scored three runs in the top of the second inning and added another run in the third inning to take a 6-3 lead.
The Bobcats were retired in order in the bottom of the second inning.
The Bobcats scored two runs in the third inning thanks to a Mitchell single and a RBI double by Fontenot to cut the Pios’ lead to 7-5.
Notre Dame increased their lead to 9-5 with two runs in the fourth inning.
The Cats scored twice in the bottom of the fourth. Dylan Guillory walked to open the inning for the Cats and Alex Young kept the inning going when he reached safely on an error and later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Hayden Darbonne to cut the lead to 9-7.
Notre Dame added two runs in the fifth inning and another in the sixth to increase their lead to 12-7.
The Cats tried to rally in the fifth as Meyers singled and Hudson tried to reach safely on a bunt, but the Pios finished the inning when Guillory hit into an out.
The Pios scored three runs in the seventh inning to claim the 13-7 victory.
Pitchers for the Bobcats included Meyers, Rider, Miller, Burson, and Guillory.
