Two men were arrested Monday for the Feb. 5 burglary and a attack in the 1400 block of West Vine, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.
During the incident a 78 -year-old man encountered two men in his residence after midnight.
When he entered his house, the two men attacked him and he ended up in the hospital for treatment, Fontenot aid.
A tip to Crime Stoppers about a .22-caliber rifle taken from the residence led to the arrest of the men, he said.
The rifle was recovered, but its stock was broken. Fontenot said police are no sure if the stock was broken in the incident.
The arrested men are identified as:
Kalon S. Frank, 22, 1000 block of Campbell Avenue, Ville Platte. Simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, second-degree battery, criminal trespass and theft of a firearm.
Joshua Wayne Miller, 22, 300 block of Eisenhower Street, Eunice. Simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, second-degree battery, criminal trespass and theft of a firearm.
