A 15-year-old boy was arrested by the State Fire Marshal for setting a fire in the home his family was renting.
The teen was arrested on one count of simple arson on May 24 and released into the custody of his parents, the news release from the State Fire Marshal stated.
In the morning hours of Friday, the Eunice Fire Department requested the assistance of the State Fire Marshal in determining the origin and cause of a minor fire inside of a home located in the 300 block of East Dean Street in Eunice.
After an assessment of the scene, investigators determined the fire was intentionally set on a mattress.
During the investigation, deputies learned the teen was the only one in the home at the time of the fire.
Following an interview with investigators, the boy admitted to setting a mattress on fire out of anger for being punished.
