A man arrested Saturday on a warrant from the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is facing additional charges from the Crowley Police Department.
Billy Joe Hanks, who was nabbed by Youngsville Police on Sept. 8 for felony theft, aggravated flight from an officer, criminal damage to property and trespassing in a separate incident, has been charged in connection with the Labor Day Weekend home invasion here.
Police Chief Jimmy Broussard said Hanks has been charged with home invasion and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon in the incident in the 1400 block of North Avenue L.
According to reports, Peter Bright returned home Saturday evening, Sept. 1, to discover that his wife, Zhu Ying Bright, 50, had been beaten and robbed in front of the couple’s grandchildren.
“Mrs. Bright has positively identified Hanks,” said Broussard. “However, she said she was unable to positively identify the second person because he was wearing a covering over his face.”
Broussard said detectives are following multiple leads in identifying the second person of interest and that another arrest is expected in the near future.
Bond on Hanks was set at $250,000 on the home invasion charge and $75,000 on the weapon possession charge. He is currently incarcerated in the Acadia Parish Jail.
