A 17-year-old Eunice man was arrested Monday for an April 22 home invasion in the 200 block of Childs Street.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot identified the man as Kevin L. Thomas, 17, 800 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, Eunice.
Thomas is charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, two counts of attempted aggravated armed robbery, two counts of attempted armed robbery use of firearm.
Three other people are believed involved in the incident.
Fontenot said the landlord had been doing painting at the residence so when the door was knocked, it was assumed the painters had returned.
Instead, four people with hoodies and bandanas pushed their way inside, he said.
The male and female residents were forced into the kitchen while one of the suspects yelled, “Give me money, give me money,” he said.
The male victim tried to push the intruders out a back door and during that struggle he was shot in the upper leg, he said.
The wounded man has been treated and released from the hospital, Fontenot said.
Police continue to look for the other three people involved in the home invasion.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Eunice Police Department at 337-457-2626.
