A Eunice man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for convincing a minor girl to send him sexually explicit pictures, acting U.S. Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook stated in a news release.
Adam Shilow, 36, of Eunice, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dee D. Drell on one count of receiving material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor. He was also sentenced to 25 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.
According to the July 12, 2016, guilty plea, starting in October 2013, Shilow contacted a 12-year-old female using an internet-based communication application. He portrayed his identity as a juvenile male with his same name. They exchanged sexually explicit pictures of each other in November of 2013. The juvenile’s mother notified law enforcement of Shilow’s activities after noticing an inappropriate message on her daughter’s phone on Nov. 15, 2013.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
