Two Eunice men were busted by Turkey Creek Police after their vehicle was stopped following a report of it being driven left of the center line.
According to a news release from Police Chief Shawn Eckhart, it was discovered after the stop that driver Deshawn Vigers, 21, of the 800 block of South Beulah, Eunice, was driving with a suspended driver’s license.
Officers smelled marijuana and a K-9 gave a positive alert,
A passenger, Wilbert Ned, 19, of the 300 block of South Martin Luther King, Eunice, admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the stop, Eckhart stated.
During a search of the vehicle, two handguns, a baggie with a green leafy substance in it and brown Crown Crown Royal bag containing a clear mason jar and a digital scale were found, he stated.
The stop was made in a drug-free zone, he stated.
Vigers was cited for the traffic violations, he stated. They both were charged for illegal carrying of weapons, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a drug-free zone, he stated.
They were booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail.
