Eunice Police Chief Kyle Lebouef said the city’s police force will on the watch for impaired drivers from Saturday the Labor Day Weekend.
The officers will join the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) effort to remove impaired drivers from the road, he said
The police department’s overtime will be fully reimbursed by the state, he said.
The NHTSA reports 511 people died in traffic crashes in 2023 over the Labor Day Weekend of which 36% involved a drunk driver.
