A Eunice woman has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into contraband being smuggled into the Acadia Parish Jail.
Sheriff K.P. Gibson reported Thursday that Brittany Driskill, 29, of Eunice, was booked for principle to introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Shamyra Gray, 25 of Crowley, he said. Gray is wanted for introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
Gibson said Driskill and Gray were not in jail at the time of the incident.
“Our investigators have furthered their investigation into the arrest of a former deputies involvement of bringing contraband into the parish jail. As a result of this investigation, deputies have arrested one person and have an active warrant for another. I take this matter very serious, especially when we had a deputy involved,” Gibson stated.
On Dec. 7, Gibson reported that Regina Senegal, 45, of Church Point, had been terminated and charged with one count of introduction of contraband into a penal facility and onecount of malfeasance in office.
Senegal was accused of bringing a cellular phone, tobacco products and other contraband into the parish jail and providing these items to inmates. One inmate has also been charged and other arrests are pending as this investigation continues.
