Haley Rae Manuel, 31, of Eunice has been charged with theft of funds over $31,000 and monetary instrument abuse, according to Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles Guillory.
The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from the Reddell Vidrine Water system on March 1, 2024, Vidrine’s news release stated.
“Detectives then attended a meeting with the water system’s board and discovered that a previous employee had written herself unauthorized checks as well as made unauthorized purchases using the water system checking and savings accounts,” he stated.
Guillory stated an audit confirmed that $31,133.80 had been stolen or misappropriated.
Manuel was arrested on March 26 and is being held on a $30,000 bond.
