Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies working with Duson Police have arrested a Duson man in the death of a 5-month-old child Tuesday morning, according to a news release from Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson.
Duson Police requested the assistance of the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office in the death of a child at a residence on Kevin Drive in Duson.
Investigators determined that the child’s injuries were greater than that of an accident and had reason to believe that he died as the result of this trauma.
Investigators interviewed various persons and were able to obtain a statement from the father of the child admitting to using force against the child when he would not stop crying Tuesday morning, the sheriff said.
The father, identified as Ted Arceneaux, 20 of Duson, has been arrested and booked at the Acadia Parish Jail on one count of first-degree murder, he said.
No bond has been set as of the Tuesday news release.
