Four guys went live on Instagram Tuesday and showed up on Eunice Police screens and then landed in jail.
Lt. Tony Kennedy said police were interviewing someone in the office on a routine day until they learned about the social media posting.
“These dumb nuts went on Instagram live and they were holding guns, smoking marijuana and holding guns up,” Kennedy said.
Police watched the video and recognized Park Avenue in the background, he said.
In about 30 to 40 minutes from seeing the social media post, Police located the vehicle, a 2002 Yukon, on Anne Street, on the east side of town.
Police searched the vehicle and found drugs, four pistols and four Eunice men, he said.
Police charged the following:
De’omante Frank, 19, 600 block of South East, Eunice. Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs less than 28 grams, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs less than 28 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a felon.
Demarco Leron Skinner, 20, 1000 block of Anne Street, Eunice. Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs less than 28 grams, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs less than 28 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a felon.
Darius Kain Bazile, 21, 200 block of South Mallet, Eunice. Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs 28 grams or more, possession of drug paraphernalia and bench warrant.
Dominick Joseph Levier, 23, 800 block of South Beulah, Eunice. Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs less than 28 grams, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs less than 28 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a felon and possession of or dealing in firearms with obliterated number.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said, “I think the officers did a great job with being alert as to what was going on and being able to find out about them and what they were doing through social media.”
Fontenot added, “As soon as they were made aware of it, it was just an all-out city-wide search for that vehicle until they spotted it.
“I hope the word gets out that if we get any information of anybody planning to do anything, a shooting or anything in Eunice, we will do all we can. We are going to put all of our resources toward capturing them before they cause any damage or hurt anyone.”
