The State Fire Marshal’s Office has arrested two teenagers for setting a vacant house on fire, according to a news release on Facebook from the fire marshal.
The 15-year-old boys were arrested Jan. 28, on one count each of simple arson and criminal trespass. Both juveniles were released into the custody of their guardians.
Just after 5 p.m. Jan. 28, the Eunice Fire Department responded to a house fire located in the 200 block of Rodney Street. The home had been vacant for a year following a previous fire.
After assessing the scene, investigators determined the fire was incendiary.
Through witness statements, it was learned three juveniles were seen leaving the home just before the fire was seen.
With the assistance of Eunice Police, two of the three juveniles were located and taken in for questioning.
Both teens admitted their involvement with the fire to investigators and were subsequently arrested.
Additional arrests are possible.
