Male, 23, killed during Christmas party melee

A 23-year-old male was shot dead in an early Saturday morning shooting during a Christmas party at the Southeast Community Center, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Police were called to the scene about 1:20 a.m.
Details are still sketchy, but Fontenot said it is believed there was a shootout inside the building occupied by about 100 people.
The shooting apparently stemmed from a fight, he said.
Three people — a 22-year-old woman, and two males, 15 and 14 years old, were injured with non-life threatening wounds, he said. The males were taken to the hospital for treatment. The woman suffered a grazing wound on a leg, he said.
Police recovered shell casings at the scene. The fatal shot was from a .40-caliber weapon. The other casings were 9mm and .380-caliber.
The suspected shooter left in a vehicle with other people, he said.
