A suspect accused of the mass shooting that claimed two lives and injured several others is now behind bars, thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of law enforcement.
On March 8, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Conroe Police Department, serving alongside the U.S. Marshals in the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force, successfully apprehended Trea’land Ty’rell Castille, 19, a wanted fugitive facing multiple homicide and assault charges.
Castille was taken into custody after being found hiding at an apartment complex in South Montgomery County. He is confined in the Montgomery County Jail, awaiting extradition.
This arrest follows an intensive manhunt after Castille allegedly opened fire during a Mardi Gras celebration in Mamou killing and wounding numerous victims. He is charged with:
2 counts of first-degree murder;
10 counts of attempted second-degree murder; and
5 counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
