Police: 2 men arrested in foiled armed robbery

Two Eunice men were arrested after they were involved in an armed robbery that went awry, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Arrested and charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, use of a firearm, obstruction of justice and illegal possession of stolen firearms were:
— Jayden Blaize Bushnell, 17, 400 block of N. Mallet, 1300 block of W. Peach, Eunice; and
— Heath Lane Belton, 17, 300 block of Eisenhower, Eunice.
Fontenot said at about 10 p.m. Sunday officers responded to a call in the 1300 block of West Peach about a threat with a gun.
Officers learned Belton had demanded money from the victim and pointed a gun at him, he said.
“The victim slapped Belton’s arm to knock the gun away from him and the gun discharged into the floor. Witnesses also identified Jayden Bushnell as an accomplice in the incident. The suspected weapon has been recovered and an NCIC check revealed the gun had been reported stolen on March 25.”
No injuries were reported.
