News reports over the weekend were that Eunice Police were pursuing a man with a gun.
But Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said when the suspect was caught after a chase that began Saturday and ended Monday, no gun was found.
The chase began with a domestic call at a residence in the 900 block of North Fifth Street, he said.
The suspect, Chad Manuel had a shoving match with relatives, he said. When police arrived Manuel is believed to have left the residence through a back window, he said.
Manuel then drove a truck around, parked it in an alley behind the house and fled on foot, Fontenot said.
Manuel, 39, was arrested on Monday at the house, he said.
Manuel is charged aggravated flight from an officer, criminal damage to property and domestic abuse battery.
There were not serious injuries in the incident, he said.
