A Eunice Police officer was wounded in the heel when his weapon discharged when he was attacked by a dog Wednesday morning, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said. The officer underwent surgery Wednesday night at a New Orleans hospital. Fontenot said the surgery went well, but the officer faces a long recovery. Fontenot declined to name the officer.
