Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited a Port Barre man for alleged deer hunting violations on May 31 in St. Landry Parish.
Agents cited Chaz E. Guillory, 27, with two counts of hunting deer during a closed season, two counts of hunting deer during illegal hours and two counts of violating outlaw quadruped night hunting regulations.
Agents received information about a night hunting incident that occurred on May 30 in a field near Lebeau. Agents started an investigation and learned that Guillory killed an antlerless deer around 10 p.m. on May 30 with a rifle. During the investigation, agents also discovered that Chaz harvested an antlered deer on May 28 at night.
Hunting deer during a closed season and hunting deer during illegal hours each brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail for each offense. Violating outlaw quadruped regulations carries a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail.
Guillory may also face civil restitution totaling $3,249 for the replacement value of the illegally taken deer.
