Purse-snatching suspects arrested in Acadia Parish

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a purse snatching incident which occurred Friday, July 13, on Holland Road just north of Crowley arrested two people
Deputies received a call regarding the citizen following a person who had just stolen a purse from a resident on Holland Road. The suspect was traveling on Highway 1111 southbound towards Crowley. Working with the assistance of Crowley Police, two suspects were taken into custody just north of Interstate 10 on Highway 1111.
The investigation revealed that the suspects followed the victim from a store, and made contact with the victim at a residence. The male suspect then forcefully stole the victim’s purse and fled the scene.
Arrested were Charlie Evans Jr, 39, of Crowley and Sarah Smith, 24, of Crowley. Both suspects were booked into the Acadia Parish Jail for purse snatching.
“We would like to remind our citizens to be aware of your surroundings, as people with bad intent are looking for opportunity” Sheriff KP Gibson said.
