A Rayne man has been arrested and another is being sought in connection with a number of thefts and burglaries.
Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly said Nathaniel Joseph Roberts, 20, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and simple burglary.
Stelly added that officers are looking for Roberts’ alleged co-conspirator, Hunter Blaze Fusilier, 22, also of Rayne.
Fusilier is wanted for theft of a motor vehicle and multiple counts of simple burglary. He also is suspected in at least 15 additional simple burglaries and two aggravated burglaries, according to Stelly.
Officers are awaiting forensic evidence from the Acadiana Crime Lab in the uncharged burglaries, the chief explained.
Hunter currently is on parole from a 2016 conviction for the unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
Stelly urges anyone who knows the whereabout of Fusilier to contact the Rayne Police Department at (337) 334-4215 or Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish 789-TIPS.
Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.
Stelly also urges any individuals who have purchased firearms or other items from either of these subjects to contact Rayne Police Detectives at (337) 334-2007.
Individuals who purchased items that they did not know were stolen will not be charged, according to Stelly.
