A search warrant served on the morning of May 2 by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Team led to the seizure of $25,205 in cash, drugs and a pistol, according to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release.
The team also arrested Opelousas couple Terrance Cardell Hatfield, 29, and Jasmina A. Hatfield, 32, both of the 200 block of Pavy Road, Guidroz stated.
The pair were detained after agents entered the residence where, according to Guidroz, they seized:
— One American Tactical AR pistol with one drum magazine containing 70 rounds;
— Weighing scales;
— Unlabeled prescription medicine:
— U.S. currency totaling $25,205;
— Approximately 28 grams of crack cocaine;
— Approximately 106 grams of power cocaine; and
— Additional separately packaged crack and powder cocaine.
There were taken to the parish jail whre it was discovered during booking that Terrance Hatfield was a felon which forbid him to possess a firearm.
The charges against Terrace Hatfield include three bench warrants; possession of weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance; three counts of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug; transactions/drug proceeds; and possession of firearm by convicted felon. His bail was set at $67,500.
The charges against Jasmina Hatfield, according to Guidroz, include: one bench warrant; possession of weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance; three counts of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug; transactions/drug proceeds; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $62,500.
Guidroz said, “This is the second time this year our agents searched this home. With these arrests, we were able to stop these drugs from hitting our streets.
