A 23-year-old male was shot dead in an early Saturday morning shooting during a Christmas party at the Southeast Community Center, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
The victim has been identified as Tyree Fredrick, 23, of the 200 block of Manuel Street in Eunice.
Police were called to the scene about 1:20 a.m.
Details are still sketchy, but Fontenot said it is believed there was a shootout inside the building occupied by about 100 people.
The shooting apparently stemmed from a fight, he said.
“There were multiple people involved in an altercation that led up to this,” he said.
Three people — a 22-year-old woman, and two males, 15 and 14 years old, were injured with non-life threatening wounds, he said. The males were taken to the hospital for treatment. The woman suffered a grazing wound on a leg, he said.
On Wednesday, Fontenot said investigators were still working on the case and no arrest had been made.
“We are getting little bits and pieces here and there. We are still trying to tie it all together,” he said.
An autopsy on Fredrick was performed Tuesday, he said.
Fredrick suffered multiple wounds, he said.
