Cory Landreneau, 37, of Eunice, died as result of injuries suffered in a single vehicle crash at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday on La. 91 near Jacob Road in Acadia Parish, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I.
Landreneau was unrestrained at the time of the crash and was ejected from the 1995 Chevrolot Silverado he was driving, police said.
Landreneau was driving north on La.91 when for unknown reasons he failed to negotiate a curve and his pickup traveled off the road to the left and overturned, police said.
Landreneau was taken to Lafayette General Hospital in critical condition, but later died as a result of his injuries, police said.
Police said impairment is unknown, but standard toxicology samples were obtained and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
The news release added that all occupants in a vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position.
