Lt. Keith Dupre of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office returns to Crime Stoppers and is asking for help in solving three thefts of tires and rims removed from 18-wheelers while parked at local truck stops.
On April 15 and 30, deputies responded to the Hwy. 190 Truck Stop in Opelousas for a theft of tires complaint.
The first report was from a flatbed trailer of a 1998 Peterbuilt where two tires and rims were stolen. In the second case, unknown suspects once again stole two more tires and rims from another trailer.
On April 24, deputies responded to Kings Truck Stop on U.S. 190 near Port Barre for another complaint of stolen rims and tires from an 18-wheeler. The owner reported that he parked this yellow Peterbilt andtrailer on April 20 then returned to find that unknown suspects stole two tires and rims from the trailer.
The 18-wheelers were parked overnight and the total loss of value is listed at over $5,800. Tip may be made online at St. Landry Crime Stoppers.com.
