St. Landry Parish Grand Jury indicts one man for murdering his mother and another for rape.
Both indictments are first-degree charges and if convicted result in a life sentence without probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
Aaron Lloyd, 34, of Opelousas is accused of killing his 65-year-old mother, Lisa Lloyd. On June 22, police officers responded to a complaint that Aaron Lloyd was making statements detailing the killing of his mother and placing her body in a trash can outside a residence on Park Circle in Opelousas.
Officers found he remains of the mother in a trash can.
Lloyd made a statement to police admitting he killed his mother, covered the body with trash bags and then stuffed the body in the trash can.
Also indicted was Tyler Jermaine Sylvester, 26, of Opelousas, with first-degree rape in connection with an Aug. 2,, 2022, attack and rape Sylvester ran from law enforcement officers while firing shots, according to the news release from St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad Pitre. Sylvester was arrested on the scene and no injuries occurred in the shootout.
