St. Landry Parish seeks public’s help after theft of traffic safety sign

St. Landry Parish Government is asking for the public’s assistance following the recent theft of a traffic safety sign from the intersection of La. 754 and Jessie Richard Road.
The sign, valued at about $3,300, is critical in maintaining safe road conditions in the area.
While the financial loss is significant, parish officials emphasize that safety remains the primary concern. Since these signs were installed, there have been no reported accidents, demonstrating their effectiveness in safeguarding drivers and pedestrians.
“This was a senseless act that endangers the safety of our community. We need
everyone’s help to ensure the safety of our residents by reporting any information about this incident,” said St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard.
A report has been filed with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 337-948-6516 or the Parish Government at 337-948-3688.
