Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly reports that, on March 16, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted the Rayne Police Department and requested assistance in locating a stolen 2007 white Hummer H3.
Officers located the vehicle at a Fourth Street residence and verified the vehicle was still stolen.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and the driver of the vehicle was identified as Kevin McCommons, 32, of 603 Fourth St., Rayne.
McCommons was arrested and upon searching him, officers recovered 13 counterfeit $20 bills. Of the 13 counterfeit bills, 12 had the same serial numbers.
Detectives also executed a search warrant on his residence. no other evidence was recovered.
McCommons was charged with illegal possession of stolen things and monetary instrument abuse. His bond was set at $10,000 and was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
