The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers is asking for help in identifying three individuals who scammed $4,500 from a Dollar General.
On June 23, deputies responded to a complaint from the manager of the Dollar General at 5661 La. 182 near Sunset. The manager learned that on June 21 three unidentified individuals entered the store and requested to load nine prepaid VISA cards. The individuals used a type of scamming device and apparent prior knowledge of the override procedures on the Dollar General point of sale software. This gave the individuals $4,500 of prepaid card value without paying anything to the store.
