Unrestrained Ville Platte woman killed in single-vehicle crash

A 24-year-old Ville Platte woman, Allison Gremillion, died as a result of a single-vehicle crash at about 1 a.m. Dec. 25 on Le Bois D’arc Road west of U.S. 167 in Evangeline Parish, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I.
Gremillion, was operating a 2000 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Le Bois D’arc and ran off the left side of the roadway, police said. Gremillion’s vehicle entered a ditch, struck an embankment and overturned.
Gremillion was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected. Gremillion sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by a representative from the Evangeline Parish Coroner’s Office.
It is unknown if impairment is a factor in the crash, police said. Toxicology samples were taken from Gremillion and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
