Victim beats robbery Church Point suspect

Deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 8:37 a.m. on Friday.
The Nov. 17 incident occurred in the 100 block of Gayle Drive near Church Point.
Thus far the investigation reveals that the suspect entered the residence armed with a shotgun. The residence was occupied by an adult female and a minor child. The suspect held them at gun-point while taking a phone and demanding other property. A third person returned to the residence unaware of what was occurring inside. Once entering the residence, this victim was held at gun point by the suspect as well.
“The male victim was able to grab the gun and a struggle ensued for possession of the shotgun. During this struggle, the victim was able to take control of the weapon. The suspect continued to attempt to regain possession of the firearm from the victim. The suspect was injured after being stuck multiple times by the victim. Deputies were able to take the suspect into custody. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for his injuries and will be booked upon his being released from the hospital” stated Sheriff K.P. Gibson.
Arrested was Jamarcus Emile Dion Duplechain, age 39. Duplechain is from the Ferriday area.
He will be charged with armed robbery and three counts of aggravated kidnapping.
