A 77-year-old woman reported to Eunice Police that her purse with $10,000 in it was stolen from her car parked in front of Dollar Tree on Tuesday.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fonenot said the incident occurred about 5:15 p.m. at the business near Walmart.
The woman told officers she did not lock the 2005 white, four-door Toyota Corolla because she going into the store for a brief amount of time, he said.
Along with the black purse with the cash, a camera was reported stolen.
The woman told police that she had gone to a bank to deposit the money, but forgot her driver’s license, which was needed to make a deposit of that sum.
Fontenot did not know how the woman came to have the money and police are unable to verify the amount.
Fontenot is asking that anyone with information about the incident to contact police at 337-457-2626.
