A single-vehicle wreck at 1:53 a.m. Sunday claimed the life of Porsha Lashante Guillory, 32, of Eunice, according to Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef.
The wreck occurred at East Maple Avenue and Lewis Street.
Officers found the vehicle overturned onto its driver's side in the ditch on the north side of East Maple Avenue.
Guillory was located inside the vehicle unresponsive on the driver's side, LeBouef said.
Eunice firefighters used extrication equipment to remove Guillory from the vehicle.
Guillory was taken to to Acadian Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
LeBouef said during the investigation it was discovered that a second occupant, identified as Auriel Michel Le Olivier, 32, Jeanerette, was an occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Olivier was taken to Acadian Medical Center for treatment by unknown sources prior to the arrival of responding officers. Officers interviewed Olivier at Acadian Medical Center who stated that she was the front seat passenger at the time of the crash. Olivier was treated and released with minor injuries.
Guillory and Olivier were unrestrained at the time of the crash, LeBouef said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Toxicology tests are pending.
