A quartet of LSU Eunice standouts were named to the 2018 All-Region Softball team as announced by the Region 23 women's director. LSU Eunice has the second most nomination behind 2018 NJCAA Division II National Champion Jones County Junior College.
Mima Doucet, Madison Monson, Heather Zumo and Emily Henderson the Bengals' contingency on the All-Region team. They are now eligible for NJCAA Division II All-American nominations.
Doucet enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign becoming the lynchpin of the LSU Eunice offense in 2018.
The third baseman led the team and nation in doubles with 29, breaking the LSUE single-season record set by fellow Notre Dame HS alum Taylor Simon in 2013.
The SLU commit led the team in batting average (.455), runs (79), hits (100) and stolen bases (39). Her 100 hits are the third most in single-season program history.
Monson was LSUE’s most consistent power presence, belting 19 home runs.
That mark was good for best among the team, fourth most in NJCAA Division II and tied for third most at LSUE in a season season.
The Walker High product also led the team in RBIs (65), triples (3) and slugging percentage (.751).
Zumo developed into one of the most dominant pitchers not only in the region, but the entire country.
The freshman tallied 29 wins, tying Julienne Broussard's 2013 record in LSUE single-season history.
The Central High product ended the year with a 29-9 record and 1.76 earned run average to go along with 177 strikeouts and .236 BAA.
Henderson became a sparkplug in LSUE's Region 23 and NJCAA Tournament run.
The reigning first-team All-American capped off her Bengal career with a .374 batting average, 12 home runs, 46 RBI and 16 doubles.
The SLU commit had four critical home runs in the postseason including three in the NJCAA Tournament.
LSU Eunice finished the season 49-20 overall and fourth in the NJCAA Tournament.
