4-1A All-District list released

St. Edmund won its first softball district title since 2004 and the Lady Jays were rewarded with 11 players named to the 2018 All-District 4-1A team.
Senior pitcher Maggie Larriviere was named district MVP, while first-year head coach Ashlyn Grossie earned District Coach of the Year honors.
Larriviere was selected as first team pitcher as she had a 5-1 district record, a 3.23 earned rusn average and a .583 batting average.
Cortnee Gallow (6-2, 2,6 ERA) from Oberlin and Merryville’s Mackenzie Samuels (3.2 ERA) joined Larriviere as first team pitchers.
South Cameron’s Kaylee Clark (.517 BA) was named first team catcher, while Olivia McDaniel (.500 BA) from St, Edmund was named first team first baseman.
South Cameron’s Karlee Nunez (.531 BA) was named first team second baseman, while team mate Maeleigh Conner (.435 BA) was selected first team third baseman honors.
Merryville’s Alyssa Duncan (.563 BA) was the first team shortstop.
St. Edmund’s Jaedyn Soileau (.448 BA) was named a first team outfielder along with Cadence Johnson (.360 BA) from Oberlin and South Cameron’s Shelby Welch (.500 BA).
Lady Jays’ Karleigh Soileau (.521 BA) and Gabby Fontenot (.600 BA) were named as first team utility players.
Other first team ultility player selections included Grand Lake’s Marlee Boudreaux (.440 BA), Alison Fontenot (.586 BA) from Oberlin and Merryville’s Riley Dyson (.433 BA).
St. Edmund’s Olivia Clark was named as a second team pitcher along with Oberlin’s Lakin Alexander and Jordyn Stickell from Grand Lake.
Lady Jay Kinsley Marcantel was named second team catcher.
The second team infield includes Merryville first baseman Jania Williams, Grand Lake second baseman Josie Ogea, Oberlin third baseman Amber Perkins and Grand Lake short stop Kailey Murrell.
St. Edmund’s Abby Miller was named to second team outfield along with Haley Perkins from Oberlin and Grand Lake’s Kayla Devall.
St. Edmund’s AnnaBelle Fontenot was selected as a second team utility player along with Marleigh Ferguson from Merryville, Grand Lake’s Kelli Ledoux, South Cameron’s Shyla Duplechain and Emma Johnson from Oberlin.
St. Edmund’s Mary Beth Lafleur and Jami Fuselier were named Honorable Mention selections.
Oberlin’s Halea Manuel, Madison Bass and Autum Reed were added to the list along with Merryville’s Andrea Cournoyer, Jenna Reeves and Kamryn Mouton.
Grand Lake’s Chloee Babineaux was also named to honorable mention list along with South Cameron’s Brilee Baccigalopi amd Kate McDaniel.
St. Edmund (13-14, 6-2) entered the Division IV playoffs as tne No 16 seed and fell 14-0 to eventual state champion Cedar Creek.
In the Class 1-A playoffs, No. 5 Merryville (9-8, 4-4) earned a first-round bye before losing 8-3 to No. 12 Centerville in the regional round.
No. 6 South Cameron (12-12, 5-3) also received a first-round bye and then cruised to a 17-2 win over No. 11 Haynesville.
The Lady Tarpons rolled to a 16-5 quarterfinal win over No. 3 Delta Charter before falling 16-1 to No. 2 LaSalle in the semi-finals.
No. 8 Oberlin (11-16, 5-3) earned a first-round bye and then grabbed a 6-3 victory over No. 9 Gueydan.
The Lady Tigers fell 2-1 to No. 1 Oak Grove in the state quarterfinals.
No. 15 Grand Lake (8-15, 0-8) opened the playoffs with a 16-6 win over No. 18 Block before ending the season with a 110-0 loss to LaSalle in the regional round.
