4-1A All-District team named

Two St. Edmund Blue Jays were named to the 4-1A All-District Boys Basketball Team as selected by the league coaches.
Alex Dupre and Henry Brown were named to the Honorable Mention list.
Grand Lake (25-7, 13-1)and Hamilton Christian (22-11, 13-1) shared the district championship and top honors.
South Cameron’s Andrew Young (20 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game) and Michael Thomas (17 ppg, 4.7 rpg) were shared Most Valuable Player honors.
Hamilton Christian’s Dexter Washington and Mark Caldwell from Grand Lake were voted as Co-Coaches of the Year.
Along with Young and Thomas on the All-District first team were Elton’s Derrick Finley (20.5 ppg, 8.7 rpg), Payton Day (19.7 ppg, 3.2 rpg) from Merryville and Hamilton Christian’s Adrian Brown (18 ppg, 4.4 rpg).
Grand Lake’s Kael Delcambre and Luke McCardle head the second team along with Hamilton Christian’s Zion Stewart.
Marshall Sweet from Merryville, Oberlin’s James Kikland and Caleb Little from South Cameron were also named to the second team.
All eight teams in the district made the playoffs, including St. Edmund (0-23, 0-14) as the No. 22 Blue Jays lost 69-35 to No. 11 St. Martin’s Episcopal.
No. 3 Hamilton Christian advanced the Division IV state quarterfinals with a first-round bye followed by wins over No. 14 Cedar Creek (78-52) and No. 11 St. Martin’s (65-52) before falling to No. 2 St. Mary’s (54-52).
No. 5 Grand Lake opened the Class 1-A playoffs with a 103-47 win over No. 28 Block before suffering a 45-44 stunner to No. 12 Arcadia.
No. 11 Merryville (13-11, 9-5) rolled to a 56-45 win over district rival No. 22 Elton (10-14, 7-7) before falling to No. 6 Haynesville (60-34).
No. 15 South Cameron (17-16, 7-7) lost 54-46 to No. 18 Kentwood in the opening round.
No. 29 Basile (6-19, 3-11) was pushed out in the first round by No. 4 White Castle (93-30).
No. 30 Oberlin (6-21, 4-10) fell 79-34 to No. 3 North Central in the first round.
