Church Point captured its first out-right District 5-3A football championship as the Bears went 7-0 in district and finished 9-2 overall.
John Craig Arceneaux was named Coach of the Year, while Bear running back Rodney Dupuis was named Offensive MVP.
Eunice High (5-6, 4-3) had 12 players named to the all-district team, including four first team selections.
Bobcat junior Jordon Ledet (23 catches for 413 yards, 7 TD) was named as first team wide receiver, while senior Caleb Sattler was selected as first team offensive lineman.
EHS junior Austin Phillips (20-24 PAT, 4-6 FG)was named first team kicker and senior Dameon Frank (32 tackles 45 assists) was selected as first team defensive back.
Iota’s Trae Rambin was named first team quarterback, leading the Bulldogs to a 9-3 overall and 5-2 district finish.
Church Point’s Dupuis was joined on the first team with Iota running back Kaleb Guillory and Pine Prairie (3-7, 2-5) running back Jerrod Sims.
Northwest’s August Pitre was also selected as first team wide receiver.
Joining Sattler on the first team offensive line was Church Point’s Kane Bergeron and Gage Higginbotham; Iota’s Garrett Broussard and Joseph Richard from Northwest (9-4, 5-2).
Northwest’s Mekhi Hammons was slected as first team return specialist.
Church Point quarterback Breelyn Jones was named as the district’s top athlete.
Northwest quarterback Montaze Sam heads the offensive second team, along with Crowley (8-5, 4-3) running backs Keith Wilson and Obadiah Butler.
Eunice running back Avery Lee (121 carries for 651 yards, 10 TD) and Church Point’s Gavin Richard were also selected as second team running backs,
Hammond and Nakyrien Jack from Mamou (1-9, 1-6) were named second team wide receivers, while Eunice junior Tyler Darbonne (7 catches for 107 yards, 2 TD) was selected as second team tight end.
Eunice senior Brad Sonnier was named to the second team offensive line along with Crowley’s Darlan Landry, Juwan Felix from Iota, Pine Prairie’s Dylan Chapelle and Matthew Kidder from Church Point.
Crowley’s Wyatt Stelly was named second team kicker and Lee was selected as second team return specialist.
Heading the first team defense were lineman Desmond Harmon from Crowley, Iota’s Kalem Johnson, Keashawn Jackson from Northwest and Pine Prairie’s Corryn Anderson.
First team linebackers were Crowley duo Donald Francis and Jalean Jenkins along with Iota’s Levi Manuel and Eduardo Briceno from Church Point.
Joining Frank in the defensive backfield was Church Point’s Trey Babineaux, Josh Burnette from Crowley and Mitchell Lege from Iota.
Lege was also selected as first team punter.
The second team defense was led by Eunice linebacker Brody Walker (10 tackles, 60 assists) along with linebackers Hunter Andrus from Iota, Northwest’s Amar Coleman and Keith Wilson from Crowley.
The second team defensive line included Church Point’s Pat Boast along with Christian Beaugh from Port Barre, Crowley’s Kendall Harmon and Kershawn Shakesnider from Northwest.
The second team secondary selections were Darrian Hayes from Pine Prairie, Crowley’s Perry Myles Jr. along with Northwest duo Mekhi Hammond and Jamarcuc Collins.
Northwest’s Kelvin Shorter was named second team punter.
Eunice had four honorable mention selections including Brody Gaspard, William McLemore, Jayden Brasseaux and Trevin Ceaser.
