5-3A All-District team named

Three Eunice Bobcats were named to the 5-3A All-District Boys Basketball Team as selected by league coaches.
Josh Burnett of Crowley was named District MVP, while Gent coach Jason Lewis was voted the District Coach of the Year.
Also on the first team will be Northwest’s August Pitre, Coby Wilson for Iota along with Tammrick Thomas from Mamou and Port Barre’s De’Andre Chavis.
Eunice High’s Carlin Vigers was selected to the All-District second team along with Ja’Colby Byers from Crowley and Iota’s Jeron Latiolais.
Isaiah Payne from Pine Prairie and Kershon Shakesnider from Northwest were also named to the second team.
Eunice High’s Dylan Moore, Eunice heads the All-Defensive team along with Kyeron Malveaux, from Port Barre and Church Point’s Trent White.
Tyrin Williams from Mamou, Crowley’s Perry Myles were also named to the All-Defensive team along woth Brett Clay from Iota, Northwest’s Mekhi Hammond and JJ Sims from Pine Prairie.
Eunice’s Mykal Moore was named to the Honorable Mention list.
No. 11 seed Crowley (29-6 overall, 12-2 in district) opened the playoffs with wins over Jennings (65-44) and Union Parish (44-39) before falling to Sophie B. Wright (97-59) in the Class 3-A quarterfinals.
No. 15 Mamou (14-9. 10-4) lost in the first round to Madison (68-61).
No. 16 Northwest (19-13, 12-2) grabbed a bi-district win over Green Oaks (56-47) but the Raiders were pushed out in the second round by the eventual state champion Madison Prep (89-47).
No. 29 Port Barre (12-14, 9-5) lost to Wossman (91-45) in the opening round of the playoffs.
No. 30 Iota (17-16, 5-9) was pushed out in the first round by Sophie B. Wright (96-49).
Eunice (5-22, 2-12), Pine Prairie (13-14, 5-9) and Church Point (7-19, 1-13) did not make the playoffs.
